Volunteering at The Gillingham Festival

The teams of volunteers which form the Gillingham Festival Committee are busy making arrangements for the forthcoming Festival, this will, once again, be centred around the Town Meadows site in Gillingham.

Gillingham Festival attracts thousands of visitors and this year will take place from Friday 10th July until Sunday 19th July 2009. The committee are planning an exciting line up of acts this year.

The Festival has grown over the years and would not exist without its team of dedicated volunteers, who provide the community with fun and laughter, whilst raising funds for charity.

Being a volunteer at Gillingham Festival is fun, exciting and extremely rewarding.  The committee are always recruiting volunteers for the Festival and if you are interested they would love to hear from you. No experience is necessary but a good sense of humour is essential.

Rubbing shoulders with the stars!   Julie Hansford, who has been a volunteer at the annual Festival since 2003, works with the back stage team and says “Back stage is a fantastic and fun place to work, there is always a great atmosphere and our dedicated team of volunteers work hard to ensure all our performers are well looked after. You get to meet some fantastic people, make lots of new friends and rub shoulders with the rich and famous’.

Sharon Simkins who's been a Festival volunteer for the past three years said “Volunteering at the Gillingham Festival is a great opportunity to make new and lasting friendships and have a good laugh.  I have previously worked on the bar and this year I am looking forward to working with the catering team. We look forward to hearing from anyone who would like to come and help out”
